CHAPTER 13

Maria watched the fit, well-muscled male wander over to the plate her cousin had put on the floor, a chain played out from his left wrist. He obviously hadn’t even realised anyone had entered the room. His senses must be nearly as bad as humans’ she concluded. Latents were pathetic and so was her need for him. She hated him, but hated herself and her unruly body even more.

He was dressed in light cotton shorts and a vest top. Goose pimples were showing on his skin. It appeared that he even felt the cold like a puny human. She was confident that his weak eyes couldn’t see her in the shadows. He was pretty enough as far as she could tell, and at least he smelt clean, as did the room.

She hadn’t seen any male vampires since her arrival, which wasn’t surprising. Her heat was starting and it would have caused a major inter-clan incident if she wound up pregnant by another vampire. Unfortunately, because of that very reason, she’d be staying in this dingy basement till her heat ended, although it didn’t look as bad as it could have done.

They’d even given their pet some fairly expensive furniture. But as the clan males probably spent quite a lot of time down here, they might have wanted a few comforts for themselves. The necessity of being here didn’t make her happy, and someone was going to pay.

Even though his eyes were more than adjusted to the dark, he only knew food had been delivered by the smell.

Lucas couldn’t see or hear his visitor, but judging from the arousal that radiated from the far left corner of his prison, she was pleased to see him. A thrill of anticipation went through him as he picked up the scent of a female that wanted him. The last time he’d smelt anything similar was in Joey’s bedroom with that prostitute, but this time, he wouldn’t be pushing her away. Although it wasn’t as if he had the choice, he hoped she didn’t look like a female sumo wrestler. Either way, they’d be fucking soon, and he’d get his first pussy. The thought made him hard, but then again, most things did.

He wondered vaguely how inccubi out in the real world dealt with the constant hard-ons being around aroused people caused. That would have been a question he would have asked his father. An unexpected wave of homesickness washed over him, which sorted out the erection. Maybe that was how they did it, thinking of sad thoughts. It didn’t seem like much fun to Lucas. Here, everyone was happy to see his erection, all the time. He’d never had to hide his body’s reactions since he’d become adult and he certainly didn’t now.

He turned towards where he thought she was.

“Hi, I’m,” was as far as he got.

With a quick sweep of her leg, she had him face-down, eating rug, with her high heel planted in the centre of his back.
